Professor Ram Avtar Gupta of MNIT, Jaipur has been appointed as a new Vice-Chancellor of the Rajasthan Technical University. The official orders for the appointment of Prof. Gupta were signed by the Governor and Chancellor. From the day of assuming the official position, Prof. Gupta will serve as the VC of the university for a period of three years or until he attains the age 70 years, whichever is first. He was appointed after recommendations from the state government and search and decision committee.
In a brief interaction with media, Mr. Gupta said that his main aim will be to promote research and academic development. A good academic environment is necessary for the students to grow and learn, he added.

Mr. Gupta completed his B.E. and M.E. from J.N.V. University, Jodhpur and pursued his Ph.D. from IIT-Roorkee. He is a highly accomplished individual from his field of Electrical Engineering. As now Mr. Gupta has published 194 research papers in various International, National Journals and conferences, authored 3 books, supervised 11 Ph.D. and 20 M.Tech. and has completed 2 sponsored projects. He has also visited Switzerland, Spain and London to participate in international conferences where he discussed the research possibilities in various emerging areas in Greenwich University London.
