One of the biggest issues faced by the civil services aspirants is the sky high fee of the coaching institutes across the countries. Add to that the burden of buying hundreds of books and study materials and you would know the hard time that the civil services aspirants go through for years.
The Punjab government is trying to set this right now. The government has announced free coaching to the students from weaker sections of the society for the purpose of civil services examination.
In order to fulfil this promise, the government intends to set up a world class centre with all the state of the art facilities and provide coaching to the aspirants from across the state. To be set up at the Maharaja Ranjit Singh State Technical University, the entire expenditure related to this institute would be borne by the state government.
The state̢s Chief Minister made the announcement as part of the national seminar being organized for the commemoration of the 125th birth anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar in Bhatinda. The CM was quoted as saying, "All of us should make dedicated efforts for carving out an egalitarian society rising above the petty considerations of caste, colour and creed."
Apart from the above announcement, the Chief Minister also declared a new scholarship worth Rs 5 lakh for all the students who are pursuing PhD (Doctorate of Philosophy) on the philosophy and the life of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
With these 2 new schemes, the state government is trying to tap into the educational potential of the students belonging to the weaker section of the society.
