Utkal University’s rural campus has decided to offer bachelor and master degrees in education, postgraduate diploma in communication for development and three other certificate courses for uplifting the rural youth which will help them getting mainstream jobs.
The announcement was made by the university on the inaugural ceremony of the University. The inauguration of the rural campus was done by the chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday. The rural campus is located near Chandikhole in Jajpur district.
Soumendra Mohan Patnaik ,Vice-chancellor of Utkal University, said “We are planning to offer a bachelor in education (B.Ed.) andmaster degree in education (M.Ed.), PG diploma in communication for development and some certificate courses from next year. We will also provide a certificate course on farmers training and women empowerment to make rural people skilled.”
He said that the rural campus of the university will fulfill all hopes and expectations of the rural people and youth. "This rural campus will be a shining star for the Utkal University. We will make all efforts for the development of the rural campus. The vocational courses on rural development and other subjects will help students get employment in different sectors," he added.
"Students from rural areas many a time find it difficult to access university education in big cities. This rural campus of the Utkal University will fulfill the aspirations of many rural students to get higher studies," further said Mr. Naveen.
