From the upcoming academic session 2016-17, The New Delhi
Municipal Council (NDMC) will introduce Smart Educational Services through 444
Smart Classrooms at 30 schools of the municipal council as NDMC recently chosen
for smart city initiative.
According to NDMC chairman Naresh Kumar, the main objective
is to introduce e-Learning solution in all New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC)
schools, mentoring programme, centralized students e-Health records and skill
development.
He further stated that this is being introduced in 30 NDMC
schools in 444 classes from the upcoming session 2016-17.
As suggested it will be introduced in all the classes of 6
to 12 in NDMC schools. The purpose behind introducing e-Learning solution is to
transform traditional classrooms to future enabled technology, enable smart
learning classrooms by introducing state-of-art technology, infrastructure and
professionally developed learning content.
To serve the above purpose, schools will have high end
computers, interactive white boards, short-throw projectors and other hardware
and software. This will hopefully help in reducing the drop-outs and improve
the quality of knowledge.
Kumar revealed that the NCERT syllabus will be available in
digital format both in Hindi and English including the content material which
would be placed at every school.
Not only this, question banks, test papers, and interactive
material like flowchart in the digital form would be available to Senior
Secondary students. Health records of students and performance of teachers
would be monitored regularly in a scientific manner.
The NDMC chairman concluded by saying that technical
requirements in this regard had been identified by NDMC for selection of
suitable execution agency. It is expected that the system would be made
operational by July, 2016.
