A report was released according to which Indian students, who wish to study abroad for their higher studies are now preferring Canadian Institutes. The University of Toronto reported an increase of 57 percent in the admission applications alone from India.
Overall, there is an increase of total 20 percent in the international students seeking admissions in the Canadian Universities.
According to the reports, students are getting attracted to the country because of its liberal and migrant friendly image. Ted Sargent, Vice President (international) of the University of Toronto, said in addition to offering top-tier universities, Canada is sending a "message about being open to the world" as opposed to the other popular study destinations such as UK and US.
"Events in the US and the UK have reverberated around the world. It makes people go back and think again."
At present there are more than 350,000 international students studying in Canada, which is roughly 1 percent of the Canada's total population. Over 8 percent of all the international students come to Canada for higher studies and they enrich the Canada's economy by pumping billions of dollars.
