On Sunday, digital education in India will enter a new era when hundreds of courses will be delivered through DTH channels, tablets and mobiles.
The courses under 'Swayam' have been developed by the expert faculties from institutes like IITs, JUN, Delhi University and Anna University.
'Swayam' is a made in India MOOC platform which will host courses taught in classrooms from standard IX to post graduation. These course can be accessed by anyone and anywhere at any the time. These courses will be available for all students for free of cost however, for obtaining a certificate in the course students will have to pay a small amount of fee.
The platform aims at providing the best teaching and learning resource to all citizens of the country and anyone can learn irrespective of whether they are student or parents. The platform will also help in bridging the gap in education in terms of quality and accessibility.
The courses will include all the major streams such as engineering, management, science, humanities, languages and mathematics. These courses will be divided into four quadrants- video lectures, reading material for downloading and printing, self-assessments in terms of tests and quizzes and online discussion forums for clearing doubts.
'Swayam Prabha' is a group of 32 DTH channels devoted to telecasting quality educational program 24x7. Every day there will be new content for at least 4 hours a day and this will be repeated 5 more times during the same day.
