Ministry of Human Resources Development has adjudged Tezpur
University in Assam as the best Central University in the country this year.
This will boost state's education sector and provide a push,
says an excited Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi.
It was his efforts that two Central universities in the
state, at Tezpur, and at Silchar were established as he had persuaded Rajiv
Gandhi, the then Prime Minister. So, he is gladder regarding university's win.
Gogoi said that two central universities in a state are rare
and he is grateful to rajivji for listening to his request.
For bagging the award, Chief Minister congratulated the
students of Tezpur University, along with its teaching and non-teaching staff,
from both past and present and the current Vice Chancellor, Mihir Kanti
CM hopes that the university will continue on its success
and reach new levels of height. Last year, Hyderabad Central University had
bagged the best Central University award. President Pranab Mukherjee will be
presenting the award to the university on March 14.
