The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) in alliance with the International Solar Alliance (ISA) is all set to offer distance learning courses on the solar applications from the upcoming academic session.
Alliance of 120 sunshine countries forms the ISA, whose sole purpose is to focus on the research in the solar power utilization.
It was launched by the PM Narendra Modi last year in November 2015. The headquarter ISA is located in Gurugaon.
“All of the courses will be available on the international platform. Theyʼll be translated into French, Spanish and hopefully also to Arabic. For Spanish and French we already have the facility, but for Arabic it may take some time,” said IGNOU vice-chancellor Ravindra Kumar.
Kumar further said that a committee has been formed by the university which is working on the modalities and in order to make the course popular government has decided that first 300 students will not be charged any fees. The formal announcement regarding the same will be made soon.
