Three business schools from IIT Kharagpur, IIT Delhi and IIT Roorkee have made it to the NIRF's (National Institutional Ranking Framework approved by the HRD Ministry) listing of top management institutions in the nation. IIT Kharagpur's Vinod Gupta School of Management (VGSoM) was ranked seventh, while the business schools from IIT Delhi and IIT Roorkee were ranked sixth and eight.
Reason for the selection
"A total of 542 business schools have send their data to the NIRF for the rankings out of which IIT Kharagpur received seventh rank" IIT Kharagpur press release. The key strengths of all these IIT business schools were research and professional practice for which they were ranked among the other top business schools of the nation.
'Teaching' and 'Learning' are the two primary aspects of any business school but other parameters such as research, research publications, intellectual property, consulting services, development programs provided much vast area for the management activities.
Acting Dean of Vinod Gupta School of Management (VGSoM), IIT-KGP, Prof Prabina Rajib said, "Faculty must undertake innovative and deep- learning R&D projects to add new dimensions to classroom teaching."
VGSom is modeled on the similar principles from the Sloan School of Management at MIT. IIT-KGP was the first IIT among all other IIT's to establish a business school. VGSoM was set up in 1993.
