Udaan scholarship was awarded to 40 meritorious girls on Friday by the SKF India.
The main aim of the program is to support the meritorious girls from the financially weaker section of the society to complete their higher education through the financial aid. The program covers all the expenses of the professional course which girls want to study.
This helps the meritorious girls in pursuing higher studies by removing the financial barriers and enabling them to realize a bright future.
Personality development, holistic development and career guidance are some other programs which are included in the Udaan program.
Shishir Joshipura, managing director and country head, SKF India, said, “An educated, confident and independent girl can lay the foundation of a stronger family and a stronger nation. Udaan is an initiative to help young deserving girls in achieving their potentials and dreams”.
The ceremony was attended by the girls and their family members. Dr Sayali Gankar, director, MIT School of Management, Dr Razia Patel, educationist & social activist, and other dignitaries from SKF India Board were also present in the ceremony.
The program is supported by the SKF partner, NGO, FUEL. FUEL has been working in this field for years.
Girls candidates, who score more than 8 percent marks in the SSC exams and has annual family income less than 2.5 lakhs are selected for the benefits of the program. Before making the final decision interviews are also conducted on the basis of which decision is taken.
