The Campus Management Corporation has been handpicked by Uganda's Finance Ministry, Planning and Economic Development, to put in place CEMAS (Computerized Education Management and Accounting System).
The CEMAS will comprise of holistic education management and Accounting system. The major aim of CEMAS would be adequate management of all the available resources, operations, domains and business processes of the Self Accounting Tertiary Institutions, along with the Public Universities. This unique program would enhance the outcomes of tertiary institutions and the universities involved by automating and integrating their processes. This, in turn, would greatly improve their financial management and service delivery.
All the institutions connected to the CEMAS would enjoy a real time access to the existing infrastructure of CEMAS. This approach has manifold advantages including a major reduction in the paper work involved and assignment of specific responsibilities and activities to each user. All the stakeholders of the institutions such as the administration, management staff, teachers, sponsors and students would be able to share as well as access the information with the help of individual accounts which would be made on the system. These accounts would also give them an option to manage their tasks.
The entire idea of Campus Management is expected to witness a major turnaround in Uganda's higher education sector with the introduction of CEMAS. The program would ensure a broader spectrum of knowledge sharing along with bringing a number of stakeholders on a common platform. This practice would certainly play a major role in enhancing the transparency of the entire system, along with reduction in the cumbersome paperwork.
One of the major beneficiaries of the program would be the students, for whom the cumbersome processes such as admissions would ease out considerably. Some of the other benefits that the students would get are better career management and a state of the art service delivery.
The high expectations of the CEMAS, as set by the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, meant that the review process before choosing Campus Management was a rigorous one.
