There have been pending degrees of around 20 lakh students of the University of Rajasthan between 1990 and 2014.
Kalyan Singh, the Rajasthan governor, has taken the responsibility to make sure that these students that receive the degrees soon. Also the gold medals that have been pending from the year 2003 for 1,056 students will be awarded. He is a seasoned politician and the former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister. And he has decided not to attend any convocation until all the degrees and the gold medals have been distributed.
Singh was invited to the convocation where he enquired the number of degrees and gold medals that have yet not been awarded. In 2009 the last convocation was held.
After hearing the response he got determined to resolve the issue. The students with exceptional study records are to be rewarded with gold medals. 385 gold medals are ready to be distributed, another 671 medals have to be prepared.
There are a total of 26 government universities in the state. All have been ordered to take the required actions. Also the details of the degree distribution are to be sent. The reason as to why these degrees have not been distributed is to be sent. Also steps must be taken to prepare the degrees.
