Uttrakhand Governor KK Paul says
that the universities should design the curriculum in such a way that they are
not only more relevant and job oriented at the same time they must be futuristic
as well.
“The time and environment is
changing so the universities should re-orient themselves and develop an
academic base which give confidence and boost to the students”. Said the Uttrakhand Governor KK Paul.
Uttrakhand Governor KK Paul was
the Chief Guest at the 13th Convocation of Kumaun Universities.
“Universities face a challenge of
creating a global cadre of youth with education that motivates them to take up research
and leadership roles”, said the governor.
Students should feel confident
enough and have enough skills required for start ups and entrepreneurship and
the universities need to re-orient themselves for the same.
The Governor also added that the
universities need to design and work on new courses on various skills. This
will help universities move with the changing times.
Paul also praised Kumaun
Universities for sticking to academic calendar. The university has been able to
get an ‘A’ certificate from the National Assessment & Accreditation Council
(NAAC).
The Governor asked the university
to focus more on patents and its Nanoscience & Nanotechnology Centre must
accelerate its research.
“The
universities also need to focus on developing curriculum on emerging areas such
as Environmental Studies, Information & Communication &
Entrepreneurship development” added the Governor.
