The VIBGYOR High Model United Nations 2012 concluded successfully today. The closing ceremony was held at the Golden Leaf Banquet in Malad (West), where Keynote Speaker and Consul-General of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Mr Genet Teshome, briefed delegates.
During the second edition, the 250 delegates divided into eight committees prepared themselves on two topics, each related to current problems across the world. Some of these were: the Yemen Civil War; Columbia's Drug Trade; Sponsored Terrorism; Cyber Warfare; Energy Security in Europe; Status about Training the Afghan National Army; Child Sex Trafficking; Gender-based Rights; Euthanasia; Media Development and Censorship; Trans-boundary Pollution; Chemical Management; Human Trafficking; and Genocide.
A delighted VIBGYOR High Principal Mr Shim Mathew said: "The successful conclusion of the second edition of VHMUN has indeed turned out to be a tremendous learning experience for all delegates. It has also given a worthwhile hands-on experience to the organizing committee members, who worked months on end to make certain VHMUN was hosted smoothly. Moreover, the knowledgeable sessions held by Mrs (Dr) Indu Shahani, the Sheriff of Mumbai, and Mr Genet Teshome, Consul-General of Ethiopia, are something the delegates definitely won't forget for years to come."
