• OVERVIEW
The Indian Forest Service (IFS) is the Forestry service of India. It is one among the three All India Services of the Indian government. The other two being the Indian Administrative Service and Indian Police Service. IFS personals are recruited by the national government but they serve under the state governments or Central Government.
• ELIGIBILITY
The applicants should be at least graduation passed in any discipline (preferably B.Tech /B.Sc. Agriculture/ Forestry) from any recognized university/ institute/ college for this purpose. The candidates should have studied the following subjects as the main subjects in the qualifying degree exam: Physics; Mathematics; Botany; Chemistry; Statistics; Geology and Zoology respectively.
• PAPER PATTERN
The Indian Forest Service Exam shall contain 6 papers in the Mains on the following subjects:
Paper I: General English (300 Marks)
Paper II: GK (General Knowledge) 300 Marks
Paper III, IV, V & VI: any two subjects selected from list of optional subjects
Each optional paper shall be of 200 Marks each
Total Marks Allotted: 1400
• HOW TO APPLY?
The applicants can submit online applications from the website upsconline.nic.in on payment of Rs100 as the registration fee to be deposited in any branches of the State Bank of India in either of the following modes- Net Banking/ E-Challans respectively.
