• Overview
The Joint Entrance Examination (Main) will be conducted by CBSE Delhi. It is the single gateway for admission to engineering colleges in India. Statistically, it is the biggest engineering entrance exam in India. All the NITs, IIITs, Centrally funded technical institutes participate directly in the exam. Hundreds of private engineering colleges across the country also take admission on basis of JEE Main 2015 ranks.
• Eligibility
a. The minimum academic qualification for appearing in JEE Mains 2015 is that the candidate must have passed in final examination of class XII or its equivalent referred to as the qualifying examination.
b. Those appearing in class XII final or equivalent examination in 2015 may also appear in JEE Mains 2015 examination provisionally.
c. Candidates must have passed 5 subjects in their Class XII. Not Applicable for students who have passed in 2013 or 2014 with four subjects.
d. Candidates passed Class XII in 2012 or before are not eligible to appear in JEE Main examination. Only candidates passing in 2013/ 2014 or 2015 are eligible.
e. Candidates’ date of birth should be on or after October 1, 1990 (5 years relaxation for SC/ST/PwD i.e 1985)
f. Candidates can attempt JEE Main for a maximum of three times.
Note: the criteria for the states of Maharashtra, Odisha and Gujarat will be as per their past practices.
• Paper pattern
The JEE Main Paper 1 is held in both offline and online modes. While filling the form, candidate must select the mode in which he / she wishes to appear in the exam. To decide between online vs offline modes, candidate must choose wisely.
1. Duration of exam – 3 Hours
2. Paper 1 Section – Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics.
3. Total questions – 90
4. Maximum marks – 360
5. Marks for correct answer – (+4)
6. Marks for incorrect answer – (-1)
7. Paper 2 sections – PCM, Drawing and Aptitude Test.
• How to Apply?
Candidates have to fill the JEE 2015 Application Form to proceed with the process of applying. The form can be filled at the official website of JEE Main: www.jeemain.nic.in. The form will be released only ONLINE and no physical forms would be issued as such. Tentatively, application would be released in November 2014. Candidates would be given an approximate time of five weeks to fill the form. These are the steps to fill the application form:
a. Access the aforementioned official website of JEE Main.
b. Enter your email ID, personal details and educational qualification.
c. Enter communication address, contact number and other details.
d. Choose the exam center, exam mode (online or offline).
e. Upload scanned images of signature and photograph in due resolution.
f. Submit the Application Form of JEE Main and pay the fees online.
g. Once submitted take its printout and preserve it till completion of JEE Main Admissions.
JEE Main Application Fees
a. Candidates have to pay the fees to complete the application submission process. Fees is Rs.1000 for offline mode and Rs.600 for online mode of exam.
b. On opting for paper 1 and 2 both, candidate has to pay Rs.1800 and Rs.1400 respectively.
c. JEE Main 2015 Application Fees can be paid thru offline mode or online mode.
d. Offline mode includes downloading, printing and submission of e-challan at the bank.
e. Online mode includes payment thru cards or payment gateways.
