• Overview
Periyar Maniammai University has had its origin from Periyar Maniammai College of Technology for Women established in 1988, by Periyar Maniammai Educational and Charitable Society, Chennai-7. College was started with the approval of All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi and affiliation to Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirapalli, and Tamil Nadu. Later, it started functioning under affiliation to Anna University, Chennai from 2001.
PMU Entrance test (PMUET) is an all India entrance test for admissions in undergraduate and post graduate engineering degree programs conducted by Periyar Maniammai University Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu every year.
• Eligibility
B.Tech (4 years)
1. Pass in +2 level examination in the 10+2 pattern of examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the subjects: Chemistry / Biotechnology / Computer Science / Biology (For B.Tech - Biotechnology; Physics, Chemistry and Biology are also eligible) or equivalent of any recognized central/state board of secondary school examination such as Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi and council for Indian School Certificate Examination, New Delhi.
2. Pass in +2 level examinations with minimum 45% marks in above subjects taken together shall be admitted to B.Tech. For Reserved Category candidates 40% marks.
3. Intermediate or two-year Pre-university Examination Conducted by a recognized Board/ university (or)
4. Final Examination of the two year course of the Joint Services wing of the National Defence academy (or)
5. Public School/Board or University Examination in India recognized as equivalent to 10+2system (or)
6. H.S.C. Vocational Examination (or)
7. Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of five subjects (or)
8. 3 or 4 year Diploma recognized by AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education (or) Association of Indian Universities (AIU) equivalence certificate for international students. Any other equivalent qualification.
B.Tech (3 year) Lateral Entry Courses
A pass in Diploma in the respective Engineering or technology discipline / B.Sc., with Mathematics as a subject in HSC level or in degree level with a minimum of 45% marks in aggregate or equivalent. For Reserved Category candidates 40% marks.
B.Arch (5 years)
10+3 Diploma (any stream) recognized by Central/State Governments with 50% aggregate marks (or)
International Baccalaureate Diploma, after 10 years of schooling with not less than 50% marks in aggregate and with Mathematics as compulsory subject of examination.(or)
Minimum 50% marks in aggregate, shall be admitted to the architecture course unless he/she has passed examination at the end of the new 10+2 Scheme of Senior School Certificate Examination or equivalent with Mathematics as the subject of examination at the 10+2 level.
• Paper pattern
1. The PMUET test paper comprises of 100 multiple choice questions.
2. Exam will be for 120 minutes
3. The entire test paper is divided in 5 sections such as Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English, and General Knowledge (GK).

1. PMUET application can also be downloaded from Periyar Maniammai University http://pmu.edu
2. Cost of PMU Application form is BTech - 600/- ( 500/- for SC / ST Candidates ), BArch - 600/- ( 500/- for SC / ST Candidates )
3. Applicants are required to take printout of the PMUET application form from the official PMU website http://pmu.edu
4. Duly filled in PMUET Application should be sent along with a demand draft should be drawn in favor of "The Registrar, PMU" payable at Thanjavur.
