SSC holds an open competitive examination for recruitment to the posts of Subordinate Accounts Service Apprentices, a Group C Non Gazetted Ministerial post in the office of Controller of General Defence Accounts. The commission at its discretion may conduct Paper-I of the examination first, short-list candidates for Paper-II and III based on their performance in Paper-I and conduct Paper II and III subsequently. Those candidates, who want to become section officer with the Government of India, must start toiling to get success in the examination. Candidates selected through SAS Apprentices exam will be appointed as Section Officer Accounts after passing the Departmental Subordinate Accounts Service Examination.
Educational Qualification: The Candidate must have university Degree in Honors or MA/M.Sc./M.Com or Diploma of Chartered Accounts and Costs and Works Accounts from recognized institutes/organization as minimum qualification.
Nationality: A candidate must be either:
(a) A citizen of India, or
(b) A subject of Nepal, or
(c) A subject of Bhutan, or
(d) A Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before the 1st January, 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
(e) A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania(Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar),Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (b),(c),(d) and (e) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.
A candidate in whose case a certificate of eligibility is necessary may be admitted to the examination but the Offer of appointment will be given only after the necessary eligibility certificate has been issued to him by Government of India.
18-27 years as on closing date.
â€¢ Paper pattern
(a) The written examination will consist of three papers each carrying 200 marks.
1. Paper I (2 hours - 200 marks)
Subject: General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, Numerical Aptitude & English Comprehension (50 questions each)
2. Paper II (2 hours - 200 marks)
Subject: English Language and comprehension (200 questions)
3. Paper III (2 hours - 200 marks)
Subject: Arithmetical Abilities (100 questions)
The commission at its discretion may conduct Paper-I of the examination first, short-list candidates for Paper-II and III based on their performance in Paper-I and conduct Paper II and III subsequently.
Note: The papers will consist of objective type multiple choice questions only. The question papers in Paper I and II will be set both in English and Hindi.
(b) Personality Test/Interview: It will carry a maximum of 100 marks. Interview wil be held at the regional/sub regional offices of the commission or at any other place as decided by the commission.

However, Those who wants to apply offline can still send their Applications in the format prescribed in Notice, to the concerned Regional/Sub-Regional Office only against the centre selected by the candidate. The envelope containing the application must be subscribed in bold letters as â€œApplication for SAS Apprentices Exam, and the name of the Centre from where the candidate intends to appear should be written in capital letters at left side corner of the Envelope.
