Saraswatii Global is the evolving vision of Mr. Mahesh Choudhary, who started the company in 1986 with a few looms and the unswerving desire to develop and manufacture the world’s finest hand-made area rugs. Over nearly 30 years, and by way of thoughtful, intentional growth, Mr. Choudhary’s humble beginnings have developed into one of the largest vertically-integrated weaving syndicates in India. Mr. Choudhary has brought all major pillars of production under the Saraswatii roof to ensure quality and consistency at every production point. Raw materials, design, dyeing, weaving, and finishing are all diligently monitored and regulated to exacting standards of beauty, durability, luxury. Today, Saraswatii not only produces its signature hand-knotted rugs, but also hand-tufted, hand-loomed, and hand-woven constructions as well. Wool, silk, synthetics, and natural fibers are all part of Saraswatii’s palette, and skilled artisans leverage their wisdom and experience to bring each design to life in a celebration of the rich tradition of Indian rug weaving that no machine-made product can mimic.
Saraswatii has a global reach, with the capacity to produce 100,000 square feet of tufted and woven rugs per month and distribute those rugs to anywhere on the globe. Saraswatii is recognized by the government of India as a Star Trading House, and holds ISO 9001:2008 certification. Saraswatii’s rugs are shown in 25 major trade shows worldwide and have earned numerous awards for their adroit color and design sensibilities.
Saraswatii continues to encourage, empower, and educate the rural artisans of India through The Saraswatii Foundation, a grass-roots movement designed to provide education for the children and adults of the villages that work for Saraswatii. Medical care is also provided, provisions are donated, and artisans are given the opportunity to become entrepreneurs by working toward owning their own looms. The Saraswatii Foundation also works to promote family wellness, eliminate child labor, and share its vision with the next generation of gifted artisans and designers.
