The University of New York in Prague was established in April 1998 in cooperation with the State University of New York, New Paltz, and the State University of New York, Empire State College. UNYP is the largest and most prominent English-language higher education institution in the Czech Republic. UNYP offers accredited Bachelor's, Master's, MBA, and PhD programs in English as an officially recognized higher education institution in the Czech Republic since 1998. Bachelor’s students have the opportunity to graduate with two degrees from the State University of New York, Empire State College and from UNYP accredited by the Czech Ministry of Education, Youth and sports.
The campus is located in the beautiful and quiet district of Vinohrady, home to stunning architecture and beautiful parks just steps from the center of Prague. The University campus is excellently situated between two public transport hubs, I. P. Pavlova and Náměstí Míru, for easy access to downtown or around Prague. The location provides ideal conditions for teaching and learning as well as student life.
UNYP uniquely offers to our students the ability to receive both an American accredited and a European accredited degree when they choose to study on the American Bachelors programs at UNYP. Students on an American bachelor’s degree program that choose to major in Business Administration, Communication & amp; Mass Media, International & Economic Relations, or Psychology have the option of sitting the Czech state exams upon completion of their program. Thus upon their success in meeting requirements for the American program and also completing the Czech State exams will graduate with two separate degrees; one from the State University of New York, Empire State College and a second degree from University of New York in Prague.

The University of New York in Prague has partnered with prominent real estate company Amres to be the very first private university in Prague to offer accommodation for its own students in the center of Prague, from March 2016. Belgická Residences by UNYP consist of two freshly-renovated buildings located at Belgická 24 and 26 with a single entrance. The residences are centrally located in Prague’s Vinohrady neighborhood and only 100 meters from UNYP’s main campus on Londýnská, making it the most convenient housing option for our students.Each building has five floors with five apartments on each floor. There are 25 apartments on offer with a total capacity of more than 120 beds. Most of the apartments have their own balcony or small terrace.
